I know. It sounds a bit like we’re going to be eating grass, right? And God didn’t make us cows, He made us people! “Best Green Powder Superfood” for some reason doesn’t have a great culinarily appealing ring! Yet, “greens” (grass and no doubt leaves included) contain chlorophyll, which our bodies definitely need if we want to stay healthy. What can we do? Enter stage right…green powder supplements!
Eat Your Vegetables, or…?
It’s been preached to us for years that we need to eat our vegetables – and to a lesser degree probably, our fruits. But many people don’t like to sit down and eat the quantities of fresh vegetables and fruits that nutritionists, doctors, and dietitians tell them they should eat. Also, there has been research showing that there may be particular greens that have “superfood” powers that go beyond just your normal celery stick. There’s spirulina (blue-green algae) and wheatgrass, among others.
We’re definitely not going to be going to Klamath Lake in Oregon to eat algae off the lake bottom, so that’s not really an option!
Green powder supplements are controversial, there’s no question about that. There are diehard believers, and there are those who say just eating fresh raw vegetables is all you need. Then there are some people who eat no greens of any kind, powdered or natural. That’s not recommended, of course!
I personally do actually take green powder supplements, so I lean toward the “green powder” side. Obviously, this review is for people like me who believe in greens powders, and who are looking for the most simple, healthy, effective, and budget-friendly products.
Which Green Powders Are Best?
I’ve done research on five green powder superfood products, looked at reviews, checked whether they are organic (they all are, actually), and the relative cost per serving. “Cost per serving” shouldn’t be the only factor to consider, you really need to consider the actual value per serving. You can check out the actual current pricing for each product from the links.
These products are available, the best I can determine, in the United States and Canada. I can’t speak to every other country in the world.
There’s no possible way I can delve into each food item in each product – for example, how much spirulina, how much spinach, how much elderberry, compared to the price, and so on. You should do additional research to satisfy yourself. Don’t just take my word!
