A lot of people get it wrong every time. What? you ask. Many people simply do not know how to cook rice! They cook it the same way over and over. It’s always watery – or it always burns. They think this is just how you do it. Usually, you will find that these people also do not like rice all that much.
You can do it properly on the stovetop, but if you are among the “rice-cooking challenged” who can just never seem to get it right, you may be interested in a Rice Cooker! There are a number of good rice cookers out there – and have been for years – but we’re going to look at one of the more reasonably-priced and popular brands that are currently available. This rice cooker comes with a steamer that allows you to steam vegetables and other foods at the same time the rice is cooking. No need to cook the veggies in a separate pan!

Pros
- Easy to use. Passes the “very simple” test.
- Easy to clean. Rice doesn’t stick on the bottom of the pot. This is a very beneficial feature, because normally rice sticks at least a little – and has to be soaked. This is due to the excellent nonstick granite interior. Not just the pot is easy to clean, the entire cooker is easy to clean.
- Cooks brown rice well. This is important, because brown rice is generally considered to be healthier than white rice, and brown rice is notoriously difficult to cook and get “just right,” without being either too watery or that there are hard kernels left.
- Compact – takes up very little space. Important for keeping things “very simple!” It takes up very little space on the countertop, and very little space in the cupboard.
- Great programmable features.
- You can choose between “rice, brown rice, delay timer, and keep warm” options.
- There is a “delay timer” which lets you put oatmeal, for example, in the pot in the evening, have it turn on at the right time in the morning to “deliver” cooked oatmeal for breakfast!
- The “warm cycle” after cooking makes it that you don’t have to worry about the timing of your meal. So it can be left plugged in.
- There’s a “steam” function for steaming – when you are not cooking rice.
- Value for dollars. Very “budget-friendly!” Great purchase for the price, and great value for the money.
- Perfect size. For 1-2 people. If you have a small family, it’s just the right size – or the right size for a small batch, if that’s all you need.
Cons
Yes, there are some “cons.”
- Can just stop working after some time.
- Inconsistency between the measuring cup and the measurement in the pot itself.
- Don’t mix measures between the measuring cup provided and an actual measuring cup. A cup is not a “cup.”
- Inconsistent cooking – sometimes.
- Vegetable steamer small.
- Plastic tray is flimsy.
